Bitty & Beau’s calls itself “a human rights movement disguised as a coffee shop,” where people with disabilities are valued and given opportunities for meaningful work.
Collaborating with the local franchisees to build the Columbus location in Upper Arlington’s Kingsdale Center was a meaningful and joyful experience for our team. Our former Director of Construction, Jeff Berling, was especially moved to see this beloved social enterprise find a home in Columbus—having previously visited the original location in North Carolina with his family.
The project began in the design phase, where our team helped translate the company’s brand guidelines into the existing white-box space at Kingsdale. We paid special attention to ensuring that the restrooms, counters, and seating were fully functional and accessible for people of all abilities.
The finished space is inviting, comfortable, and modern, with a striking black-and-white color palette throughout. We’re proud to have played a small part in helping bring this incredible organization to Central Ohio.
