Los Campeones Gym transformed a former retail pharmacy building in Worthington into an expansive strength and fitness destination, giving new purpose to a vacant retail building while introducing the Minnesota-based gym concept to Central Ohio.
Known for its old-school training culture, extensive strength equipment, and strong sense of community, Los Campeones is designed for everyone from dedicated fitness enthusiasts to competitive bodybuilders, powerlifters, and strength athletes. The new location required a substantial renovation of the former pharmacy space to create an environment purpose-built for that style of training.
Inside, the former retail floor was reimagined as an open training environment with specialized strength and conditioning equipment, free weights, racks and lifting platforms, dedicated turf, a posing room, and full locker facilities. Custom casework at the reception and lounge areas and custom mirrors throughout the training spaces add both function and character to the interior. New plumbing and building-system modifications supported the change in use, while a custom interior mural and a complete repainting of the building—inside and out—helped carry the bold Los Campeones identity throughout the facility.
The result is a dramatic adaptive reuse that bears little resemblance to the pharmacy that came before it. By pairing the bones of an existing commercial building with the distinctive look, energy, and training culture of Los Campeones, the project demonstrates how thoughtful renovation can give an underutilized property an entirely new identity and purpose within its community.
