When founders Andrew Smith and Devoney Mills set out to open Isla, their goal was to create more than a restaurant—they wanted a space where food builds community and conversation. After years of hosting the beloved Roys Avenue Supper Club in their home, they partnered with Compton Construction and 410 Studio to bring their dream to life. Together, they designed a warm, contemporary space centered around two 14-seat communal tables and an intimate chef’s counter. Each multi-course meal is served in unison, transforming dinner into a shared experience that connects strangers through food and storytelling.
The restaurant’s soft lighting, natural wood tones, and rich blue paint create an atmosphere that feels both elevated and approachable. Stunning vintage and modern furnishings, custom millwork, and thoughtful material selections echo the artistry of the menu, while greenery adds a living warmth throughout the dining room. Behind the scenes, a professional-grade open kitchen anchors the space—designed to leverage thoughtful techniques that build an unparalleled depth of flavor and create a direct connection between chefs and guests.
