Compton Announces Columbus’ First Building Impact Response Team
COLUMBUS, Ohio — In response to a pattern that has become oddly familiar across the city, Compton Construction is proud to announce the launch of the Building Impact Response Team, a specialized unit dedicated to supporting commercial properties affected by sudden vehicle-to-building interactions.

Created with the needs of Columbus business owners in mind, this new division is built to respond when storefronts, façades, entry sequences, and otherwise innocent exterior walls experience an unplanned encounter with a moving vehicle.
The Building Impact Response Team will focus on a range of critical services, including:
- emergency stabilization
- temporary protection and board-up coordination
- impact damage assessment
- repair planning and scope development
- restoring buildings to their original, vehicle-free condition
“Over time, we recognized a growing need in the market,” said Blake Compton, CEO of Compton Construction. “Columbus businesses deserve a trusted partner when their building suddenly becomes much more open-concept than intended.”
The launch reflects Compton’s ongoing commitment to craftsmanship, responsiveness, and helping local businesses care for the spaces they depend on every day. While many construction challenges can be anticipated in pre-construction, this particular category tends to arrive unannounced, at speed, and through the front wall.

As part of the rollout, Compton has also outlined several key operating principles for the Building Impact Response Team:
1. Buildings deserve boundaries.
Not every entrance is intentional. Not every opening belongs in the design. And not every sedan understands that.
2. Fast response matters.
When a building is damaged, the issue goes beyond what’s visible. Safety, security, operations, scheduling, and revenue can all be affected in a matter of hours.
3. Columbus businesses should not have to normalize this.
And yet, here we are, formally announcing a division for it.
Of course, this is an April Fool’s joke.
There is no official Building Impact Response Team at Compton Construction.
But the issue behind the joke is real.
When a vehicle crashes into a commercial building, the aftermath can be significant. Business owners may be left dealing with emergency protection, repair decisions, insurance coordination, downtime, and lost revenue while their space is out of service. For a small business, even a short closure can have a real impact.
That part is no joke.
The good news is that Compton does offer a very real way to help. Our Services & Small Projects team supports businesses with repairs, maintenance, and smaller-scope project work when the unexpected happens. Whether a space needs restoration, protection, or straightforward problem-solving after damage, we’re here to help owners move forward with clarity and urgency.

Because while the division may be fictional, caring for Columbus buildings — and the people behind them — is not.
