Yokoso means “welcome” and that’s what we created with the client and our partners: a welcoming gathering space for employees of the Japan Marketplace as well as a multipurpose space for the public. Maintaining the look of Yokoso while allowing for the flexibility of a cultural center’s many offerings was critical. The versatility and clean look of custom-designed DIRTT glass doors and walls allows entire rooms to change while the aesthetic doesn’t. A full teaching kitchen provides room for cooking classes while other areas flex for ceremonies, performance, meetings, reception or even just a calm break.
